![]() ![]() Indeed, I've come across tons of people that don't use a laptop, simply because their job doesn't require them to use one. That message in of itself shouldn't be a controversial one. That, for a lot of people (read: not everyone), it's the only computer they need. The ad was basically highlighting how tablets can do a lot of the things that were exclusively the domains of desktops and laptops. But Apple doesn't market their products to enthusiasts, so I doubt they care. It left a sour tase in the mouth of tech enthusiasts. ![]() Of course, it's another conversation as whether or not the iPad/iOS is the product to do it. In a not too distant post-PC world, I could definitely see this happening. However, the newer generation might not view them as such. "Instead of doing my homework on my computer, I'm using my iPad." - which yes, is still a computer. I think the idea here was that like the examples mentioned above, the iPad could replace the traditional term "computer" completely as it tries to replace it physically. I think it plays off of the thinking that many people refer to "iPad" when talking about a tablet, like many think "Nintendo" when talking about video games and "Google" for searching.
